A Civatte body (named after the French dermatologist Achille Civatte, 1877–1956) is a damaged basal keratinocyte that has undergone apoptosis, and consist largely of keratin intermediate filaments, and are almost invariably covered with immunoglobulins, mainly IgM.

Chapter 23, Female Reproductive System (pgs 773-790, Ovary and Uterine Tubes) Although emergence of keratin 17 (K17) and reciprocal loss of K13 are immunohistochemical hallmarks for oral mucosal malignancy, we report here findings of K17-positive (+) speckles, possibly equivalent to Civatte bodies, in benign oral lichen planus. Sixty-two biopsy samples from oral lichen planus cases were subjected to immunohistochemical examinations to analyze the distribution as well as Se hela listan på hindawi.com Shotgun Histology Ovary 2012-06-07 · Histology and cytology are two branches of biology that study the tissues of animals and plants and cells microscopically. They are known as CBs (in epithelium/epidermis), colloid bodies, or hyaline bodies (in connective tissue). Civatte bodies.

These structures are universally known as Civatte bodies. Nonetheless, they were first described by Raymond Sabouraud in 1912. Even after Achille Civatte discussed and beautifully illustrated them a decade later, it took until the late 1960s for the term Civatte body to win acceptance.
